What is Lacrosse for LIFE?  Lacrosse for LIFE uses the sport and tradition of lacrosse to inspire and educate youth in underserved and at-risk communities in San Francisco. We believe in the inherent integrity of the Native American game and strive to increase diversity in participation while at the same time, providing complementary enrichment and personal growth opportunities. 

What's "LIFE" about?  "LIFE" stands for Leadership, Integrity, Friendship and Education.  These are the ideals we embrace and use in all of our programs. See the definitions above.

Can anyone play? How can I sign up for programs? While we focus our programs and recruiting in the communities of Bayview and Hunters Point, any child who commits to our Code of Conduct and completes the necessary paperwork is welcome to participate!  Look at our programs here.

Can I still help if I haven't played in a while or don't understand lacrosse?  Yes and yes! Our love of the game inspired us to start a new way of interacting with kids.  We offer programs of different skill levels and different ages, and all of them have aspects that focus on personal growth.  We're pretty sure we can find a way for you to participate. Read our letter to volunteers and download an application!

What if I don't have a lot of time to play/volunteer?  We understand that life gets busy and it's sometimes hard to choose which activities are right for you or your child.  We're pretty sure once you try lacrosse, you'll find more time for it, but feel free to come out and visit to see if it's a good match.  Volunteers are always needed; every moment a child spends with a positive role model could change their life.  We're happy to try and work around your availability.

Do you have locations in other cities?  At this time, we are focused on working with the kids in San Francisco.  However, we have like-minded friends in cities around the US.  Email us to see if we can connect you with them! 

I'm just a kid.  What can I do to work with you?  Fellow youth laxers are some of our biggest supporters!  One of the best contributions you can make is to tell your parents, coaches and teammates about us.  Work together to conduct a gently-used gear drive or come hang out at a clinic!

My school requires community service.  Do you guys do that?  Absolutely.  Over the years, we've benefited from hundreds of hours given by local students of all ages.  We try and create an experience that will inspire life-long service.  We know you have things you can teach and there are lots of things we can teach you, too!                                                                                                    

My company is interested in working with you for our service component.  Can we set something up?  Most likely.  It's helpful if you have a lacrosse background, but we often have projects in-progress which can benefit from groups of help.  

 

 

I'm interested in making an in-kind donation.  Who can I talk with about that?  In-kind donations help us meet our needs and increase our offerings to the children who participate in our programs.  Please email us to chat about your ideas.

How can I make a financial contribution?  Thanks for including us in your giving plans.  Did you know that many companies offer matching donation programs?  Check with your employer to see if you can double your donation by filling out their (usually short) paperwork!
