  Lacrosse for LIFE was founded in September of 2000 by three friends: Andrew McDonald, Josh Miller and Johanna Thomashefski.  
 

Andrew McDonald

 
 

Andrew McDonald is currently pursuing his MBA from UC Berkeley while working in Acquisitions and Development for Legacy Partners, a Bay Area commercial real estate firm. Andrew received a BA in Economics and History from Williams College in 1994. While at Williams College, Andrew was an All-American goalie in 1994.

After graduation from Williams, Andrew worked for three years in Boston as a business strategy consultant with Braxton Associates and SRI Consulting. Following that he was a Senior Manager in the Strategic Services Group at the software company BroadVision, where he worked for nearly four years.

Andrew's other lacrosse experience includes high school All-American honors in 1990 and several positions coaching summer camps over the last decade. Andrew is a current member of the Northern California Club Lacrosse Association as an Olympic Club team member, where he has played since 1998.

Andrew volunteered as a tutor and coach at Visitacion Valley Elementary from 1999-2001 through the San Francisco based non-profit program called R.O.C.K. (Real Options for City Kids) before becoming involved with Lacrosse for LIFE in 2001.

Josh Miller 1972-2005

Josh Miller graduated from Princeton University in 1995 with an BA in History. He was a Co-Captain and All-American for the Princeton Men's Lacrosse Team in 1995. Josh then was an assistant lacrosse coach in 1996 for NCAA playoff team Hofstra University before moving to New York City, where he worked for four years in Credit Suisse First Boston's investment banking division.

In the spring of 2000, Josh coached in the Greenwich Youth Lacrosse program in Greenwich, Connecticut. In June of 2000, Josh moved to San Francisco to work for a private equity fund, where he worked until June of 2001. Since September of 2000, Josh has been working with community leaders in San Francisco to build a youth lacrosse team from the Bayview and Portola districts to compete as a member in the Northern California Junior Lacrosse Association.

In June 2001, Josh founded Tiger Camp California, a summer lacrosse camp located in San Francisco. Tiger Camp is conducted in association with Princeton University's coaching staff and Warrior Lacrosse.

Each year, the player who exemplifies Coach Miller's philosophy of courage, hard work and goal setting receives the "Josh Miller Memorial Bulldog Award".

 
 

Johanna Thomashefski

 
  Johanna Thomashefski received her MA in Sport Management from the University of San Francisco in 2002. She obtained her BA in English from Michigan State University in 1995. While at Michigan State, Johanna co-founded and was the initial coach for the MSU Women's Lacrosse club, playing on the team for four years.

After graduating from MSU, Johanna was the business manager for her family's corporation. Concurrently, from 1996-2000, Johanna was the Junior Varsity Lacrosse coach at her alma mater, Ann Arbor Pioneer High School, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1999 and 2000, Johanna was also the Tournament Director, successfully implementing the first Junior Varsity lacrosse tournament of its kind in the region, bringing fifteen girls' lacrosse teams from Michigan, Indiana and Ohio to Ann Arbor for annual Playdays.

In July 2000, Johanna moved to San Francisco to pursue her master's degree. She was a volunteer Assistant Varsity lacrosse coach at St. Ignatius College Preparatory Academy in 2001. She received her local officiating rating in January 2001 and was a member of the Northern California Women's Lacrosse Association as a player.

She serves on the US Lacrosse Youth Council and is a chairperson on the BRIDGE Executive Leadership Team.
