"A lot of kids out there don’t know what lax is; if you are introduced to this sport, like me, you'll fall in love with this. A lot of kids are out there on the streets, drinking, using drugs, breaking the law; lax keeps you busy, right after the practice, you have to get the homework done so you can play lacrosse."
--Cobar, Burton High School
"It helps me focus more in school; I didn’t have a clue what lacrosse was until my cousin Jabari told me about it. I thought it was sort of like running on the grass but didn’t know what it was. It keeps me off the streets. I am getting closer to different sports."
-Reneil, Martin Luther King Academic Middle School
"Thank you to the Native Americans who invented this sport. Thanks to the coaches and the funders and founders of this team for helping us learn and teaching us how to play lacrosse. I wouldn’t be able to play this game without your support and help, thank you."
-Kenyana, San Francisco Community School
"Thanks to all coaches for starting a good program that helps kids get into sports. We wouldn’t be able to afford this sport if it weren't for the sponsors and we have a team with lots of personality, this is an expensive sport and the sponsors really help us afford it."
-Satchel, 2008 Coach Miller Bulldog Trophy recipient
"That's alright. It's not
really anything to get frustrated
about.
'Cause all
these other kids, they've been out for ten years, and this
is
our first year and we still given' 'em a little heat."
-Darryl at 13, First Bulldog Captain, referring to the Bulldogs'
win/loss
record. Darryl is now a freshman at Skyline College.
"I think that I'm
making a new goal for myself -
doin'
somethin' different."
-Dominick at 12, Bulldog player
"It's something new. I like to prove other people wrong.
My family
comes to watch us. Some of them wish that lacrosse was
around
when they were younger so they would have had the same
opportunity to play."
-Harold at 12, Bulldog player. Harold, a member of our first team, is now a freshman at Tuskegee University.
